ABOUT MODEL CONFERENCE OF PARTIES

"Children learn how to make good decisions by making decisions, not by following directions."-Alfie Kohn

Never before has the voice of youth been more crucial in the discussion of environmental conservation. It is time we recognise youth as equal stakeholders in furthering the cause of conservation action and work alongside them. Today's youth aren't afraid of dreaming big and finding ways to transform their vision into the reality of an inclusive, greener and a healthier planet. Inspired by this vision, in 2020, WWF India initiated the Model Conference of Parties-an annual simulation of the Convention of Biological Diversity's (CBD) - Conference of Parties (COP) for students of India.

72 young student delegates from 28 States and 8 Union Territories of India are mentored by experts in the field of environment, governance, and conservation to:

  • Understand the goals under the Convention of Biological Diversity's Vision for 2030.
  • Experience the cyclical process of negotiations and consensus-building at the global COPS.
  • Chart the roadmap from agreement to actions.

Witness the students present targets and action plan to protect nature and biodiversity on 4th July, 3 PM to 5:30
